What is FedEx Ground Economy?

FedEx Ground Economy (formerly called FedEx SmartPost) is a cost-efficient shipping option for small and medium businesses. It’s ideal for outbound residential deliveries and returns that are low-weight, low-value, and nonurgent.

To utilize FedEx Ground Economy in Ordoro, make sure these steps are complete.

  1. Your FedEx account is Ground Economy enabled. Contact FedEx to verify this status.
    1. Once you’re approved for Ground Economy, it can take up to 10 days for these rates to show up in third-party systems like Ordoro.
  2. Your package should meet FedEx’s package restrictions.
    1. The minimum package dimensions are 6 x 4 x 1
    2. For example, a box with dimensions 9 x 3 x 2 will fail because 3 is less than the minimum dimensions.
  3. Set your FedEx Ground Economy Hub in your carrier settings. See instructions here.

How to create a Ground Economy label

Next, in Ordoro, follow these steps to create a Ground Economy shipping label.

  1. Select the order you’d like to ship via Ground Economy.
  2. Select FedEx as your shipper.
  3. Expand the Advanced Options section. Select your Indicia (generally Parcel Select) and Hub.
    1. If you’re uncertain of your Hub, contact your FedEx representative directly.
    2. It’s also in the FedEx email when you were approved for Ground Economy.
  4. The correct rates will display below.
    1. Service types are determined by the weight entered and the FedEx Ground Economy services included in your contract.
