Work at Ordoro

Software Engineer

We’re looking for a software engineer to join our Dev team. Projects we have in mind for the coming year include speeding up and scaling our services, integrating with new external APIs, and streamlining our infrastructure and deployments. Along with your fellow engineers, you’ll also work closely with members of our customer support and sales teams. We’re a tight-knit crew, so you’ll have the opportunity to make a major impact right away.

About Us

Ordoro is an all-in-one ecommerce logistics platform. We holistically solve common back-office issues online sellers encounter — shipping label printing, multichannel inventory management, automated dropshipping, returns processing, and reordering — through an intuitive web app. This helps thousands of businesses save time and increase revenue by simplifying and automating the fulfillment of their products. It’s not a glamorous space, but we do our best to make it awesome. We are well-funded, have a mature product, a proven 10-year-old track record and our team is growing!

In your first two days on the job, we’ll get you settled in and familiarized with the codebase. After 2 weeks, you’ll commit and deploy a feature to production. In 3 months, you’ll completely own part of our codebase. We work hard, but we're equally serious about having fun and taking time off to enjoy life.

Here are some of the day-to-day things you can expect:

  • Remote work has us online for regular meetings, lunches, and happy hours
  • A typical day starts around 10am CST and can end around 6pm CST to accommodate end-of-day assistance for our support team (we’re flexible though)
  • We have a weekly dev-on-call rotation to make sure we know things are up and running
  • Monthly milestone planning sets expectations across the company for features and fixes
  • We test and deploy code weekly

There are a few traits we have in mind for that ideal someone to fill this role.

First off, this person has at least two years of relevant experience working as a software engineer or developer.

Next, this person should also love the following:

  • Using Python and Postgres, and exploring new technology to make Ordoro better
  • Tuning an API to make it more performant as a company scales
  • Using 3rd-party APIs and figuring out all the fun little landmines their docs fail to mention
  • Working collaboratively for personal and team improvement
  • Helping out other teams with their technical questions and with improving their workflows
  • Automating, monitoring, and testing your own workflows and features

Also, since we’ve only been doing this fully-remote thing for just a year now, we definitely prefer U.S. candidates that are located in Central Standard Time (CST).

Pay and Perks

We’re a small, Austin-based tech company that offers competitive salaries, equity, and growth opportunities. On top of that, there’s no big company drama here — just like-minded, cross-functional coworkers focused on the same goal: making ecommerce better.

Here are some specifics:

  • $70,000 - $130,000 annual salary (based on experience)
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Unlimited vacation
  • 401(k), and stock options
  • 100% remote (to keep you healthy and safe)
  • Tools and technology to help you succeed while working remote, including:
    • Macbook Pro (or whatever type of computer you want)
    • $1,000 allowance for home office improvements
    • $70/mo internet reimbursement
    • Paid team lunches
