Company Background

“The Girlfriends (and a few brave men)” came together to build My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe that in turn formed a community of women and creatives. When Kris Thurgood retired from teaching elementary school, she found herself longing for a creative outlet. With her Grandmother’s sewing group in mind, a simple download of “How to Start Your Own Quilt Shop,” and the support of her family — My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe was born.

“For me, there is nothing more important than a community of strong, creative women. I wanted to create a tribe of women that would have each other’s backs through thick and thin,” said Kris.

My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe is a family-owned and operated business that sells fabrics, notions, patterns and machines for quilting enthusiasts since 2011. Located in the beautiful Cache Valley in northern Utah, Kris and Mike built “a haven where creativity and friendships are their first priority.”

How do they fulfill their orders?

Currently, My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe sells their quilting products through their two websites: WooCommerce and Shopify, as well as in their two brick-and-mortar store-fronts located in Logan and Sandy, Utah.

As far as fulfillment models go, My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe processes and fulfills 8,000+ orders per month through their in-house warehouse while mainly utilizing USPS, UPS, and FedEx for all their shipping needs.

Challenges they had before Ordoro

Before discovering Ordoro, My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe was utilizing a combination of ShipStation, Hike, and Quickbooks Online to run their business. Over time they found that these integrations and solutions didn’t provide the best options for tracking their inventory.

Throughout their search for the right all-in-one shipping and inventory management solution, My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe evaluated Katana, FishBowl, and NetSuite but found after thorough analysis that Ordoro was the best choice for their business.

Ordoro’s fractional kitting and inventory management were the two factors that truly caught their eye.
